We stayed at this Chateau, which was built in 1752. Still owned by the same family, like 7 generations....!

John Steel was a member of the 82nd airborne division. He jumped on D-day in the area of Ste Mere Eglise. He had the misfortune of getting hung up on the bell tower of this town. He was up there helplessly watching the battle rage all around him. The Germans finally figured out he was up there captured him alive. Two days later he escaped captivity, when the German outpost that was holding, was attacked by American paratroopers!!
