I think that is very cool and even experiment worthy. I wonder how these will work with a nerf projectile? The world may never know... or will it?

A ScaledTanks friend says about it:
for my 2inch field gun I ordered a 18 ft piece of rifled PVC !!! the difference in accuracy and distance was huge. The cost to benefit was worth it!! just look up rifled pvc on google there are a few places to purchase it. if you are going with nerfs that is the only way to go!!

Outstanding. I am considering a panzerschreck/jcs launcher project down the road and would like to try adding/fitting a rifled barrel.

I'm getting a rifled barrel for my next canon project. I have been hearing good things. My only concern is the groves my rip the sponge body of the nerf rocket.

I also noticed that the inside of the PVC (grooves and lands) looked rough. I bet they could be polished out to some extent. The site said the grooves are cut .030" deep which should be enough to work with. I'd really like to examine a piece.

How would you polish the inside of the barrel?

How would you polish the inside of the barrel? We have this gadget at work we use occasionally (I don't know what it's actually called.), and it resembles the "claw" from one of those claw machines with the toys at the bottom, but the claws expand outward and have abrasive pads on the end that adjust and contour to whatever you stick it in. Attach to an appropriate length rod and chuck it up to a hand drill. What I imagine is to use different grits of emery cloth/sandpaper to take the roughness out and slick it up without taking too much away from the rifling and inside diameter. As long as the movement inside is even throughout and lubricated, it may work. I only speculate as to how this would come out. 1. It's PVC, 2. I've never seen any rifled PVC, and 3. I haven't dealt with PVC in many years. BUT, if it behaves as metal and wood does when sanding or polishing, we're good. I'd welcome the chance to conduct the experiment and get it to work. I'll send you a pic of the thingamajig this week.

he is talking about a "Hone". I always assumed the grooves would be too rough on the nerf. Maybee ill give it a try though. anything that makes the cannon more accurate is good in my book

Amen to that! If I get that cannon from hardboy that he made for Toxin, I might re-outfit it with a rifled barrel and see how it does. It would be great for the Tiger if it works.

Yup, cylinder hone. I had to ask what it was called. The pads are pretty aggressive on it but you could attach finer grits of sandpaper to em for polishing.
